Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Is this really free?
A. Yes. Articles and related photography are free for registered users to incorporate in their publications, newscasts, radio broadcasts, websites, etc. There is no cost to you for using these materials.
Q. How can you afford to do that?
A. Our sponsors pay for the costs associated with producing the content that is posted on the site. Because they generously support us, we require that you leave their names in the copy that you run and do not substitute any specific products mentioned with a generic term. Sponsor names are clearly cited at the bottom of each article to avoid any confusion.
Q. What are my obligations when using this service?
A. When you download an article from www.instantedits.com, we assume that you intend to run it. We ask that you do one of the following: email a PDF of the page it ran on or the website link to clips@instantedits.com, or mail a clipping to us, at 19825 North Cove Road, #138, Cornelius, NC, 28031, so that we substantiate our reporting to our sponsors. If you decide not to run the article, just let us know so that we can keep our records up to date. As explained in more detail below, we also ask that you cite IE News Service in whatever format is typical of your publication.
Q. Do I have to use the articles “as is?”
A. No, you can edit the articles as needed to fit your space and your publication’s style requirements. Headlines can be changed, copy can be expanded or condensed, and articles can be altered to reflect your voice. The “look” of the article can be changed to fit your publication’s style. You can localize the articles by adding your own sources. What we do not allow is changing the intent of the article or portraying the sponsor in a negative light.
Q. I found a cool photo on your site, can I run it by itself?
A. No. Photos can only be run in conjunction with the associated article. Again, because our sponsors have made a considerable investment in procuring quality photography, we ask that you show them the consideration of not running these photos without their content.
Q. Do I need to run all the photos or any of the photos?
A. No. We understand that some articles may need to be cut to fill a particular space. You can definitely eliminate any or all of the photos associated with the article, or include your own, as needed.
Q. What type of attribution is required?
A. We require that you cite IE News Service as the source of the information, in whatever format is typical of your style. (ie., By IE News Service, Courtesy of IE News Service, – IE News Service, etc.) In addition, mandatory photo credits must be used if a photo is run, and sponsors’ names must remain within the body of the article. Sponsors’ names are clearly listed at the end of each article to avoid any confusion.
Q. Are there any limits on number of articles that I can run?
A. No. Please feel free to use as many articles as you need, whenever you need them. We want to be a true resource for you.
Q. What if I want something that I don’t see on the site?
A. Please email editor@instantedits.com and give us your ideas. We want our articles to address your needs, and if you can’t find something that you’d love to see, chances are that others would like to see it, too. Ideas for new categories as well as specific article topics are always welcomed.
